2月28日は宮地嶽神社の奥宮、不動神社の春季大祭（ぜんざい祭）が開催されます。参拝者のみなさんには午前10時より金と銀の大釜でつくられた、ぜんざいがふるまわれます。不動神社は日本一の大きさを誇り、20点もの国宝が発掘された由緒ある横穴式石室古墳の中に「お不動様」をお祀りしている全国でも珍しい神社。この日は石室の中で御祈祷を受けることもできます。
Shinto shrines in Japan have distinctive festivals held for each season. Tomorrow a festival will take place at a separate shrine in the precincts of our shrine. In this festival, a sweet soup with rice cake in it, called zenzai, will be served to worshippers from large gold and silver pots. Incidentally, the separate shrine is built at the site of a megalithic tumulus made some 16 centuries ago, from which many buried properties made of gold have been dug out. Most of those properties are designated as national treasures of Japan.
