年に２回、目前に広がる宮地浜の海に落ち行く夕陽は、鳥居や参道の先に真っ直ぐ沈み、神社と海岸、そして相島が一直線で結ばれます。平成29年10月21日（土）22日（日）宮地嶽神社では夕陽の祭が開催されます。神社では、ご祖先様が坐（マ）します彼の世（あのよ）と この世が一直線に繋がる日として大切にされてきたのです。夜には願い事が書かれた約3000本の竹灯にご神火が灯されます。※）なお見頃は13日（金）から22日（日）。この間は、光の道ウィークとしてさまざまな催しが行われます。
In mid-October, the sun setting into the ocean sets directly beyond the torii-gate and entrance path that lies in front of our shrine. Thus, the points between the shrine, the beach and Ai-no-shima Island are connected in a straight line. This year, that day falls on the 18th of October. On this day, the Festival of the Setting Sun is held.
